To Reconcile
Monaghan guitar man Seán O’Brien started Fields as a solo project but it now has six members.
Their roots span the three neighboring counties of Monaghan, Cavan and Longford, while they cite excursions to picturesque Loughrea, Co. Galway, Glencolumbkille, west Donegal and more recently, the scenic surrounds of the Dublin mountains as being the source of what their sound has become.
Their sound is innately inspired by the character of this sleepy and often maligned region, which is wide awake with spirit and charm, bursting at its borders with plots of parochial divide, understated romanticism and quiet malaise in the Irish heartland. Combining powerful synth-driven melodies, carefully-entwined harmonies and captivating guitars, the band bring energy and ambience together to make for a compelling journey.
Fields have released their debut record titled ‘Postcolonial’ in 2019. The 12-track LP will feature singles ‘Get Worse’ and ‘Border Boys’, with further track releases expected over the coming months.
