Found Myself Lost
The prodigiously-gifted Susan O’Neill, best known as the beautiful, husky-voiced backing singer with acclaimed Irish acts Propeller Palms and King Kong Company, has launched her own musical adventures with her stunning debut album 'Found Myself Lost' in 2017.
When the 30th anniversary of The Joshua Tree came about in March 2017, she was invited to cover one of U2’s songs. Always up for a challenge, SON opted for that album’s edgy penultimate track ‘Exit’ and totally nailed it.
The day after her stunning version went online, Bono himself sent an unexpected email to “black eyed Susan.” The U2 singer told her that her version of his song “took me aback in its simplicity and power... stark and still until it wasn’t... He signed his email off with, “Your fan, Bono.”
Although she plays the guitar, harmonica, trumpet her true love lies in the soulful type singing that she is steadily building a reputation with. Under her own guise Susan has supported Mundy, Paddy Casey, Mick Flannery, Wyvern Lingo and Sharon Shannon on her 2018 Irish tour.
2019 has been a typically hectic year so far, with a successful return to Oz and a scattershot tour of Europe already done, as well as a recording stint in Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in Wiltshire. SON is currently out on tour in Canada and North America, road-testing new material for her eagerly awaited sophomore album, due to be released next year.
