LAST PLAYED ON EIREWAVE:
Nothing Matters
The Last Dinner Party, an indie rock ensemble hailing from London, was established in 2021. The group comprises Abigail Morris (vocals), Lizzie Mayland (vocals, guitar), Emily Roberts (lead guitar, mandolin, flute), Georgia Davies (bass), and Aurora Nishevci (keys, vocals).
Securing a deal with Island Records, the band unveiled their debut single, "Nothing Matters," in April 2023, followed by three more singles that same year. The highly anticipated debut studio album, "Prelude to Ecstasy," is set for release on February 2, 2024. The band embarked on their inaugural headline tour across the UK and US starting in October 2023.
History:
In 2020, Morris, Davies, and Mayland crossed paths in London before university, bonding over their shared love for live music. Inspired by the notion of an extravagant, hedonistic banquet, they formed the band under the original moniker 'The Dinner Party.' Roberts joined as the guitarist, recommended by a mutual friend, and Nishevci completed the lineup.
Navigating the challenges posed by the COVID-19 lockdown, the band faced difficulties rehearsing together until their inaugural performance at The George in London in November 2021. Over the following year, they refined their sound, gaining grassroots support on the London live circuit, including an opening act for the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park in July 2022.
To avoid confusion with the hip hop supergroup Dinner Party, the band rebranded as 'The Last Dinner Party' upon signing with Island Records. Their debut single, "Nothing Matters," produced by James Ford, dropped on April 19, 2023. The track was later featured in the EA Sports FC 24 soundtrack. During the summer of 2023, they supported Florence and the Machine, gracing festivals in the UK, Ireland, and Europe, including Glastonbury and Latitude. The band also made appearances on Eirewave 'The Next Big Thing'.
Subsequent releases, "Sinner" on June 30, 2023, and "My Lady of Mercy" on October 9, 2023, both produced by James Ford, showcased the band's evolving musical prowess.
