The Sherlocks

The Sherlocks are an indie rock band from South Yorkshire, England, formed in the summer of 2010 in the village of Bolton upon Dearne. Initially playing covers in local garages, the band quickly transitioned to performing in working men's clubs. Soon after, they began writing original songs, which helped them cultivate a loyal following. In 2014, The Sherlocks became the first unsigned band since Arctic Monkeys to sell out The Leadmill in Sheffield.

The band's early singles, including "Live for the Moment" (2014) and "Escapade" (2015), paved the way for appearances at major festivals, such as Reading and Leeds in 2015. Their third single, "Heart of Gold," helped solidify their presence in the UK indie scene. In early 2016, they released "Last Night" and performed at the prestigious SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.

2016 saw The Sherlocks gaining momentum with their fourth single, "Will You Be There?" and supporting The Libertines on their arena tour. Later that year, they signed with Infectious Music. Their subsequent single, "Was It Really Worth It?" (2017), topped the Official UK Vinyl Singles Chart, marking the start of their first headlining UK tour.

The band's debut album, Live for the Moment, was released on 18 August 2017 and recorded at Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire. Following its release, The Sherlocks embarked on an extensive tour across the UK, Europe, and the USA. They also supported Liam Gallagher on his European tour.

In 2019, The Sherlocks announced their second studio album, Under Your Sky, released on 4 October 2019. That summer, they played high-profile gigs, including supporting Kaiser Chiefs and The Vaccines at Elland Road stadium for Leeds United's centenary celebration. They embarked on another UK and European tour, promoting both Under Your Sky and tracks from their debut album.

The COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 disrupted the band's touring plans. During this time, founding members Josh and Andy Davidson left the band. In November 2020, guitarist Alex Procter and bassist Trent Jackson joined the lineup, and the band announced plans for a new album.

The Sherlocks' third studio album, World I Understand, was recorded in 2021 with producer Dave Eringa at Rockfield Studios. Released on 19 November 2021, it was preceded by singles such as "End of the Earth" and "City Lights." The band toured in support of the album and continued to play independent venues.

In February 2023, The Sherlocks announced their fourth album, People Like Me and You, which was released on 11 August 2023. The album’s singles, including "Sirens" and "Don't Let It Out," were met with strong anticipation, and the band embarked on their largest UK headline tour to date.

On 27 September 2024, the band announced their fifth studio album, Everything Must Make Sense, set for release on 21 February 2025 on their own Teddyboy Records.

The Sherlocks continue to evolve as one of the UK's prominent indie rock acts, known for their energetic live performances and consistent chart success.
