Don't Say A Word
The Zen Arcade are a garage rock band from Ireland that play original and prawn cocktail flavoured songs who'll put hair on your palms. Formed in 2019 the band is compromised by 3 ex-members of The Strypes, who enjoyed 2 Top 10 UK Albums, appearances on Jools Holland, The Late Show With David Letterman, Conan, Music Station in Japan, Glastonbury and supported the Arctic Monkeys on their UK/EU AM tour. The band also embarked on extensive sold out headline tours of the UK, EU, US, South America and Japan from 2011-2018 averaging a work rate of 200 shows a year before calling it quits after contributing to the soundtrack of (and landing parts in) Rocketman (the Elton John biopic). Hollywood came knocking and then stopped knocking after it realised it had the wrong house.
The Zen Arcade have done none of this but I can assure you are very good.
Ex Strypes members hope they won't have to become Ex Zen Arcade members anytime soon. No buzz? No fuss! Their zine Cro Mag Non has always got column inches to give and their podcast Higher Fidelity gives the band with the bandwidth for more the airwaves to do so. Influences include and are limited to Teenage Fanclub, Jesus And Mary Chain and Hoodoo Gurus, along with a vested and cardiganed interest in cow-punk and power pop.
